NC State University’s 1911 Building

  • Scope: Classroom renovations and addition
  • Total Project Cost: $7.8 million
  • Type of Project: Historical Renovation
  • Length of Project: 13 Months

Riley Contracting Group handled the complete renovation and restoration of the 1911 Building with respect to its original structuring. The project included the installation of new plumbing, fire protection, as well as HVAC and electrical systems. The restoration of the exterior masonry and original windows used identical materials to prevent the loss of the Victorian-style of the building. The attention to detail continued into the tuck-pointed interior of the building, which was finished using an old lime plaster containing horsehair replicated from a science lab. The project was completed with a beautiful two-story atrium that opens to The Court of North Carolina, a focal point of NCSU.

In recognition of superior professional services, Riley Contracting Group received a Certificate of Merit on behalf of the North Carolina State Building Commission for the 1911 Building renovations.
